Friendly greeting by some fishing guys sitting at a table. Good espresso and smoothie. The sandwiches looked tasty although I didn't get one. Cool little place but the (smoking hot) woman that served us was not real friendly.

Good stuff. You don't have much of choice when it comes to food in Shady Cove, Oregon, but if you did have to make a choice, this is a good one. We like to grab sandwiches (& maybe some soup) from the Picnic Basket, ask the guys at the Fishing Hole for some pointers on what to fish with at the Rogue River, and eat our sandwiches as we watch the river flow.

They must put magic on these sandwiches. Every single sandwich I've had from here has competed with the last sandwich I had from here for the best sandwich I've ever had. The meat, the cheese, the vegetables, the bread, even the condiments, are top quality and taste it. Sometimes it can be a bit of a wait, but it's well worth it.

This little hole in the wall is well worth the stop! Great for take away but they do have 5 or 6 small tables too. They great you like friends as soon as you come in. I have only ordered an Italian club sandwich when I go there cause it's just so good. They make their own French bread rolls for the sandwiches daily which are the best I've ever had anywhere. Great selection of salami's and deli salads too. My wait is usually 5 minutes for my food. The deli is also connected to a fishing shop. You can rent everything you need for fishing and they tell or take you where to go. The walls are covered with locals big fish pics and old time photos of the 64' flood. Nice to look at while you wait. Also a nice shop for the ladies connected to deli with unique gifts and stuff for the home.

The Picnic Basket (although I call it the Fishin Hole, as it is simply the deli connected to the Fishin Hole shop) is great. The staff is very friendly. The building is clean and inviting. The deli sits between the gift shop and the small fishing/hunting outfitter and they are all connected. I had the Turkey Pesto sandwich and it was quite tasty. I poked around the 2 shops while I waited and then ate the sandwich outside in the sun at the picnic table out front. They also have tables inside with A/C and fans if it's too hot outside for you. Definitely take a moment to stop in here for a sandwich and a cold drink. *NOTE: The Fishin Hole also runs river trips - both casual floats and fishing tours - so inquire if you are interested.
